What this symptom reveals
Generated answers no longer tell the same version of your organisation across moments, models or queries. This symptom is not only a punctual error. It often indicates that the public signal system does not give AI systems a stable enough basis to reconstruct the organisation correctly.
In a healthy situation, answers may vary in wording, but they remain coherent within the same corridor of meaning: same category, same role, same central value, same limits and same main proof. When the substance changes, the issue is deeper.
How it shows up
Several signals usually appear together:
- generated descriptions become more generic than the real positioning;
- cited competitors are not the strategic competitors;
- an old offer keeps appearing as if it were central;
- public proof is not connected to the right claims;
- the same brand is described differently depending on the model or query;
- answers use plausible formulations that sit too far from the canon.
These signals create a dangerous zone: the organisation thinks it is visible, while systems progressively move its representation.
Why not correct too quickly
The natural reflex is to publish a new page or ask an AI system to correct itself. That reaction can help in some cases, but it does not necessarily address the cause. If the corpus remains contradictory, source pages are unclear, proof is weak or entities are ambiguous, another publication can even add noise.
The right starting point is to establish an AI perception baseline and qualify the gap. Is it an isolated hallucination, category drift, dilution, remanence or loss of recommendability? The answer determines the right intervention.
What Pagup looks at
Pagup first checks the relationship between the generated answer and the organisation’s public surfaces. Does the problem come from a missing page, a weak page, outdated content, missing proof, uncontrolled semantic neighbourhood or confusing editorial hierarchy?
The diagnostic can then lead to an LLM perception drift audit, AI representation stabilisation or brand disambiguation.
